It's just under a year since the Minnesota Timberwolves played against the Philadelphia 76ers. We took an 11 point beating, that evening, from a young team who were definitely on he rise under the guidance of the wily Doug Collins. The fact that they currently possess the third place off berth in the Eastern Conference with a 20-11 record suggests that they are continuing to blossom.
They have lost their last two games to two of the form teams in the NBA, away at Orlando and at home to Dallas. Ryan Anderson absolutely killed them with 7-10 from downtown and then they ran into TBG who is back to his efficient Teutonic best, burning them for 28/12...in a low scoring game.
All this aside tonight's game is made even more fascinating due to he fact that Philly have their very own 7 foot, Montenegran called Nikola...and he too seems to be making a big impression....Nikola Vucevic is a 21 year old rookie (16th pick) out of USC and he went 7-8 from the field against Dallas for 16 points in 19 minutes. You can imagine he'll be desperate to get some burn against Pek but the fact that he's about 50lbs lighter than his fellow countryman may make things tough. They will, as is customary, share a kiss before the game.....after that it could get ugly
Given the Sixers record this is another tough one to call but when you look at Love, Rubio and Pekovic I think Minnesota have the edge in this one.....if we can get one or two three point shots to fall early that will really open things up.....Plan A is rumbling along well at the moment but it's nice to have a back up.
