Minnesota Timberwolves 89 - Orlando Magic 102

"We are a young team...we need to continue to grow, to grow as a team..."

"We are a young team...we need time...."

These words (or something very similar) are becoming the all-too-familiar ringtone of this Timberwolves franchise. We are to deduce that all the woes are due to the Twolves being a young squad?...I only partially buy that. To me, this Twolves team is like the post-teen adult who is scared to leave home...sometimes only a kick up the arse will do...along with the kindly words, "It's time you started thinking for yourself and stood on your own two feet!!"

Last night's smack-down by the Orlando Magic was so reminiscent of the hammerings we became used to seeing all through the Rambis era that it was frightening. That has to be a matter of real concern for Rick Adelman who, as we know, is an infinitely better coach than Rambis.

Looking in on this situation things started going wrong when all of the injured players returned to full fitness. At that point Rick Adelman admitted that he would have an uneasy time with selections and rotations....we are still there...confidence is at the lowest point it has been at all season.

It's fairly clear cut.......we are missing an alarming number of open shots and continue to turn the ball over at will. Rubio. Love and Pekovic are starting to show real signs of fatigue as they are being asked to take up the slack for the under performing support cast. Now, almost half way through the season, teams have been able to get a good look at our strengths and know exactly what to do against us to negate those...we are no longer a surprise...when's the last time you saw a Rubio alley-oop?

There's no doubting that additions need to be made to this squad...we really need some savvy veteran presence around the place..... but in the interim the coaching staff now need to earn their money off the court and explain the harsh reality that lies ahead....it's time this team grew up.
